Greenpoint Montessori is a single early childhood classroom in a residential setting. Students work and learn in this mixed-age class led by a thoughtful and well-trained teaching team. The program is housed in a cozy apartment in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and is ideally located for convenient access via the G train.

Temporary Assistant Teacher

Location: Brooklyn, NY
Type: Full Time
Min. Experience: Entry Level
Pay: $20/hour

Start Date: March 20th, 2023 
End Date: June 27th, 2023
Hours: Monday-Friday 7:30 am-3:30 pm with the exception of planned closures (no school) April 6-14, April 21, May 29, and June 19.

Brief Description: The Temporary Assistant Teacher will support all Teachers. The ideal candidate has experience and enjoys spending time with children 2-5  years old, including classroom management, conflict resolution, and maintaining a clean and orderly learning environment

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Follow Greenpoint Montessori safety protocols listed in the Faculty and Staff Handbook 
  • Complete all paperwork and fingerprinting required by the Dept. of Health prior to March 20, 2023
  • Classroom management
  • Cleaning and sanitizing the learning environment
  • Work in partnership with the other teacher(s)
  • Supervise students during the morning work cycle, lunch, and outdoor play
  • Accompany students and teachers to the park and on neighborhood walks, if applicable
  • Have fun and be flexible

Skills or experience with any or all of the following are also desirable:  
High School Diploma required
Montessori experience preferred
Demonstrated classroom experience preferred

​Substitute Teacher for Early Childhood

Location: Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY
Type: Part Time
Min. Experience: Entry Level

Start Date: ASAP
Brief Description: Substitute Teacher will support co-teachers. The ideal candidate has experience and enjoys spending time with children 2-5  years old, including classroom management, conflict resolution, and maintaining a clean and orderly learning environment
As Needed Position. The hours are as needed Monday-Friday 7:30 am-12:45pm and 7:30 am-3:00 pm.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Follow Greenpoint Montessori safety protocols listed in the Faculty and Staff Handbook (including but not limited to: proof of vaccination, properly wearing face coverings, frequent hand washing)
  • Serve as a substitute teacher when a teacher is absent
  • Work in partnership with the other teacher(s) in the room
  • Supervise students during lunch and outdoor play
  • Accompany students and teachers to the park and on neighborhood walks, if applicable
  • Have fun and be flexible 

Skills or experience with any or all of the following are also desirable:  
Demonstrated classroom experience preferred.
