What if your child loved learning so much that they happily let go of your hand every day? We can help you reach that goal with our high-quality, intimate, child-led curriculum. At Greenpoint Montessori, we teach your child how to discover the world for themselves, and everything they find is theirs to keep forever.

Your life changes when you let the child lead.Children thrive when they get to make their own choices, and it’s okay to let them set their own pace for learning. Our program is child-led rather than teacher-led. We’ll never send your child home with a hand-turkey clearly made by an adult with their name on it. Instead, your child will build confidence by experimenting with different mediums on their own terms.

A classroom you can count on. Our classrooms are guided by observation rather than control. Our teachers have created an age-appropriate environment for your child to freely learn and explore and each day they collaborate with students to help them develop new skills. Every teacher in the room has been trained to know when to offer help and when to step back and let your child solve problems.

A school that feels like home. The first Montessori school, created 100 years ago, was a home designed for learning, and that’s what our space emulates as well. Our school is a cozy apartment in a residential area of Greenpoint. The space is beautiful and nothing is off-limits to your child.

A big backyard nestled in the neighborhood. In NYC, a private outdoor space is a rare gem. We’re so lucky to have a beautiful backyard and you better believe we’re out there running around and discovering the world every single day. On any given day we might be harvesting tomatoes, covering every surface in chalk, or enjoying an autoharp concert under the shade of the Ailanthus tree.

Mastery through leadership. There’s a saying, “if you want to master something, teach it.” Our children move through a 3-year cycle where they grow from youngest to oldest, working together along the way. In their third year, they master the art of learning when they finally step into a leadership role. Here they get their first taste of what it means to be a leader, reinforcing what they’ve learned by teaching and assuming the responsibility and confidence that comes with that.
